Biography

Zdenko Huzjan was born in Lendava (1948). He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Professor Gabrijel Stupica, then went on to pursue postgraduate studies in painting there under Professor Janez Bernik. In 1997 he was appointed full professor of drawing and painting at the Art Pedagogy Department of the Faculty of Education in Ljubljana. In 1988 he received the Prešeren Foundation Award for his work; in 2002 he won the Rihard Jakopič Award, in 2004 the Župančič Award, and in 2008 a special commendation from the Mayor of Lendava for his achievements in culture. Also worthy of note is that Huzjan has written several collections of verse.
