Braco Dimitrijević was born in Sarajevo in 1948. He had his first one man show in 1958 at the age of 10. From 1968 to 1971 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb (MA). From 1971 - 1973 he finished post graduate work at St Martin’s School of Art in London. In 1972 he recived British Council grant.
In 1976 - 1977 he did his DAAD fellowship in Berlin. Later in 1978 he received Prix Jean Dominique Ingres from Académie de Muséologie Evocatoire and also received the Major Award from the Arts Council of Great Britain.
He also received Knighthood for Arts in 1992 - Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in Paris.
He lives and works in Paris.
