Ruth Mader was born in Vienna in 1974. She studied film direction at the Viennese Faculty for Music and Applied Arts (department for film and television). Following three short films/videos made between 1997 and 2001 (Ready for What, Gfrasta, Null Defizit). Struggle is her first full-length feature film. Ruth Mader wrote the screenplay in collaboration with her renowned colleague Barbara Albert.
