Tugo Sušnik was bom on 24 November 1948 in Ljubljana. He spent his childhood in London (1956-1965) and New York (1965-1968). He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana (1971-1976, with professors Nikolaj Omersa, Zoran Didek, Kiar Meško, Gabrijel Stupica), and in 1979 completed his specialisation in painting (with professors Andrej Jemec and Jože Ciuha). He was awarded the Fulbright scholarship in the period 1979-1980 for his studies at the Pratt Institute, New York. He lives in Ljubljana.
