Lizzy is a »foxy« lesbian who crushes all lesbian stereotypes; she speaks her mind and directly readdresses lesbian sexuality. Through her frank declaration about the still tabooed lesbian world, the character of Lizzy – who remains almost expressionless save for the exception of eye, mouth and hand movement – is most effective. Visually simple, yes; but message-wise it is accomplished, with lots of humour, irony, plays on words and – in particular – acuity. These animated stand-up comedy shorts by the British director Ruth Selwyn were introduced at the City of Women in collaboration with DokMa, the documentary film festival held in Maribor, Slovenia’s second largest city. In the year 2007, a special section of the main programme was dedicated to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual document aries.
