Transsexualism is usually viewed in two very distinct matters: a) as a highly intellectual issue of ''gender sublimation'' that quotes the cults of Cybele or the Greek myths, completely ignoring everyday reality b) as a very pedestrian overview of the everyday squalor of prostitution & the glittering fakeness of the showgirls, at the same time ignoring the real emotional and personal transformations. This piece deals with the real aspects and meanings of the sex/gender mutation, as a journey through the life path of a transsexual woman, examining her real sex/gender problems, difficulties, fights, and conquests, towards full transgender consciousness.
