In his minimalist installations of the last two years, Anže Sever’s focus has been on visible reality and the hidden potentials of space, which he explores with technology, light, and sound, and tests with disruptions, duration, and motion.
His latest work, a video and sound installation Duplication/Replication, brings together the main features of his production to date. It examines the field of the immaterial or the virtual as something that arises from the interactions of quite material relations, in this case, human interactions and the interactions of individuals with or inside the exhibition space. With the video of exhibition visitors Sever tries to produce a parallel reality in which the viewers feature as both the actors and the observers of themselves and their interactions with others. The image and the sound from the space are duplicated to bring to our attention and awareness the direct communication and relations we have with one another as individuals, as well as our attitude toward ourselves, our words and image.
