In whose dreams of the future is the future female? The future is always an idea: be it a futuristic projection, a dystopian or utopian fantasy, a grand plan, a hope, a desire, or a daydream. What image of the future inspires the production of women artists? Whose images of the future are they documenting? Are their fantasies, dystopian or ultimately utopian in aspiration? Do we share this vision or even recognise the feminist critique it contains?
