Synopsis

The Arsenal DEPO programme is published on radioCona that was broadcasting the events on 88.8 MHz.

In September 2008 Gallery Kapelica put together a selection of artists that the organizers of Ars Electronica, the festival of art, technology and society in Linz, placed at the very focus of the festival, the Featured Art Scene. From the vantage point of a privileged international venue, the presented artistic practices may have been perceived as extraordinary, an attribute of the particular circumstances in which they were created. In other words, Kapelica’s selection came across as a homogenous art scene. Despite the fact that the work of artists which Kapelica considers in framing its programme cannot possibly be regarded as an art scene, the experience from the not-so-distant Linz provided an opportunity to find in this selection of artists a common trait – contemporary investigative art. In Linz the idea was born to put the expanded selection by Kapelica in a national artistic and historical framework. Exactly 80 years after Ferdo Delak’s inauguration of Junge Slovenische Kunst, the Slovenian avant-garde in the Berlin constructivist magazine Der Sturm, we are presenting an event which symbolically creates a paradigm of contemporary investigative art.
